Britney Jean Sparrow was born in McComb (Mississippi) on the 2nd of December, 1981. She lived in Kentwood (Louisiana). Britney had dance lessons as a youngster and was an excellent gymnast. She was a winner of numerous contests. However, the most important thing was, Britney loved to sing. Britney tried to audition for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) at age eight. She was denied because of her age. It led her to an off-Broadway show, "Ruthless", for a 2-year run as the lead character. She was back in The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) and this time as the mouseketeer. However, her biggest breakthrough was in the latter part of the 1990s when she signed a contract as a Jive Recording artist. After the release of her debut album"Baby One Last Time" "...Baby One More Time" in the early part of 1999, Britney became a global hit and sold 13 million copies of "Baby" and 9 million (as of July 2001) of her second album "Oops !...I Did It Again", released in May 2000. Britney was the daughter of Lynne Spears and Jamie Spears. She has one of her brothers Bryan Spears and a little sister Jamie Lynn Spears. Britney was bound to become a star from a young age. Britney loved singing and was influenced by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Britney auditioned for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989-1994) on the television at the age of 8. However, she was too young to play the role. Britney and her infant sister, Britney relocated to New York, where she performed in a number of TV commercials and an off Broadway production called "Ruthless" which was directed by the guidance of Natalie Portman. Her passion for dance and music grew and, two years after that, she was auditioning for part in "Mickey Mouse" again, and this time, was selected for the part along with Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
