Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan, blonde-haired and blue-eyed She was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield Connecticut to Susan (Duggan), a former actress and English teacher and Harry Hyra, a maths teacher. Meg is of Ruthenian, Polish, Irish, and German roots. ("Hyra" is a Ruthenian surname, while "Ryan" is her maternal grandmother's maiden name). Meg has graduated from Bethel high school in Bethel in June 1979. Meg then moved to New York City and studied journalism at New York University. Meg Ryan was her name, and she started acting to earn money while she completed her degree. In 1981, she had her first big screen debut, with a brief appearance as Candice Bergen's daughter in George Cukor's final film Rich and Famous (1981). She auditioned and was chosen to play Betsy in the day time soap on television As the World Turns (1956). From 1982 to 1984, she was part of the cast. Meg was also a part of the television series One of the Boys (1982) that was later removed. In 1984, she relocated to a tinsel town, and got a job in the western television Series Wildside (1985). Meg's tiny role in the blockbuster film Top Gun (1986) led to her being part of Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) where she co-starred alongside Dennis Quaid. In the remake of D.O.A., she starred again alongside Dennis Quaid. (1988) and the couple married on Saint Valentine's Day in 1991. In 1989, Meg appeared in When Harry Met Sally... (1989) and the scene at the restaurant became famous. Meg was nominated for the Golden Globe and the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. She also was a part of the hugely successful Sleepless in Seattle (1993) which was nominated for the Golden Globe. In 1994, Meg decided to act in a different way when she appeared as an alcoholic spouse and mother in When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). Meg returned to her role as "cute" following that film with I.Q. (1994) as well as French Kiss (1996). People Magazine named Meg "Woman Of The Year" in 1994 with the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award.
