Zachary Galifianakis

Zachary Knight Galifianakis (Greek pronunciation 01 October 1969) was an American comedian, actor and musician. He also wrote and comedian. He was a part of the Comedy Central Presents special and presented his show Late World with Zach on VH1. Galifianakis has appeared in films such as The Hangover trilogy (2009-2013), Due Date (2010), The Campaign (2012), Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014) and Masterminds (2016). He also voiced characters in animated films such as Puss in Boots (2011), The Lego Batman Movie (2017), Missing Link (2019), and Ron's Gone Gone Wrong (2021). Galifianakis is currently hosting of the talk show Between Two Ferns, with Zach Galifianakis. He was a regular on FX's television show Baskets. In 2017 Galifianakis was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Lead Actor in an Comedy Series. Zachary Knight Galifianakis was born in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, on October 1, 1969. He is the son of community arts center owner Mary Frances (nee Cashion) and heating oil vendor Harry Galifianakis. His mother is Scottish-Irish and English descent, while his paternal grandparents are Greek immigrants from Crete. The baptism was performed according to the Greek Orthodox faith of his father. He is the father of Merritt who is a younger sibling and Greg who is his older brother. His cousin Nick Galifianakis (Washington Post cartoonist) is his uncle. Galifianakis was a student at Wilkes Central High School. He later attended North Carolina State University and majored in communications. He worked as an operator of a radio station at an access station for the public while in college. In the year 1991, he taught the class of waltz and came across Mary J. Blige. Galifianakis joined Saturday Night Live two weeks after making his television debut on Boston Common. Galifianakis said he was a part-time employee for Saturday Night Live for two weeks. Britney Spears hosted on one of those days. I created a sketch. Will Ferrell was to serve as her bodyguard on the belly button. We planned to shrink Will so that he could become the belly button. After I explained the plan to her, she stared at my sketch. Then she said, "Yeah that is funny." Galifianakis co-starred in the film Out Cold, and had small role in Corky Romano, Below, Bubble Boy, Heartbreakers, Into the Wild, Super High Me, Little Fish Strange Pond and Largo.
