Dolly Rebecca Parton

Dolly Rebecca Parton was created on January 19 1946 in Pittman Center (Tennessee). She was born to Avie Lee Parton and Robert Lee Parton in Sevierville. Parton is a homewife and Parton is a farmer of tobacco. At the age of 12, she began performing on Knoxville TV and at 13 she had already begun recording on a small label , and was performing on the Grand Ole Opry. She graduated from high school in 1964 before moving to Nashville to begin her country singing journey. Carl Dean, an asphalt-paving businessman, fell in love with her, and they were married on May 30th in 1966. Her singing in 1967 caught the interest of Porter Wagoner, who hired her to appear on his show, The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She stayed with the show for seven years. Their duets were a hit and she performed with his group on the Grand Ole Opry; she also sold and toured records. Her hit "Joshua" was released at the top spot in 1970 was her biggest hit single. She decided to do it alone, even though she still recorded duets with the singer. The singer left him to be a singer-songwriter on her own in 1974. Dolly achieved immense fame as a songwriter/singer. Dolly received many Country Music Association awards (1968 1970, 1970 and 1971, 1975, 1976). The petite (5'0") beauty was an easy fit for television. By the mid-1970s, Dolly was frequently appearing on television specials, talk shows, and was even receiving her own Dolly (1976). Dolly received her first Grammy award in 1977 for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Dolly's first film appearance was in 9-to-5 (1980) In the film, she won an Oscar nomination for the song's title, as well as Grammy awards 2 and 3. She also received Grammy awards 2, 3, Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, for the track "Nine to Five." She got more fame for her role in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and in Rhinestone (1984) with the song "Tennessee Homesick Blues". Dolly Parton Enterprises is her media empire, worth $100 million. In 1986, she launched Dollywood which is a Tennessee theme park in Pigeon Forge. This was to celebrate her Smoky Mountain upbringing. She appeared as herself in Dolly, the Dolly (1987) TV show. In the episode "Trio", she won the Best Country Performance Duo or Group with Vocals Grammy in 1988.
